As a freelancer, I helped this organization coordinate social media plans to promote events in the St. Louis Metro East from Alton to Grafton. This included caption development, design and reaching target audiences related to each events.

From Mid 2019 to Mid 2020, I audited the social media platforms for LHPA, a nonprofit responsible for promoting local events and education opportunities related to Alton, Illinois' history. During this year I not only relaunched the Instagram, Facebook, and NextDoor pages of LHPA, but also doubled the following of their newsletter and attendance for events before the pandemic hit.

My duties for this positions involved teaching and assisting teams with their ideation for a fully functioning iOS mobile application. This included being familiar with Apple's Human Interface Guidelines, Adobe Programs and how to communicate with iOS developers on their teams who would built the apps. This included teaching some basic code to journalism and communications students taking the course as well.

Coordinated with over 150 grade schools in seven Mid-Missouri counties to market this annual event, and maximize participation as well as attendance. A digital and physical marketing plan to reach teachers and students in each county's district was also developed through the creation of a digital and paper newsletter, Facebook page, and flyers delivered to each school. Local food establishments and Mizzou were coordinated with to determine proper accommodations for all attendees.

The goal of this PR campaign was to increase the interest and amount of applicants in General Motor's Communication Internship Program. Over the course of 10 weeks, my team and I researched what would attract Millennials, Cuspers and Gen-Z marketing and communications students to apply and work for this Detroit-based, Fortune 500 company. This campaign was developed in competition against three other student groups and was chosen to by GM to be used for recruitment in late 2018 early 2019.

From 2016 to 2019 I held several hats for this organization from social media strategy to presiding over it. Our mission was the bridge the gap between STEM and Communications students through Pulitzer Prize winning speakers, conference attendance, and opportunities to conduct science writing for our local publication Unearthed.com

For 10 weeks, I worked on a team that thoroughly studied the internal communications and digital culture of Shelter Insurance. This ethnographic study was conducted to find ways to improve the digital presence of the company and diversify new staff by encouraging POC, veterans and younger applicants to want to work for Shelter. You can find the full report and findings in our link below

From mid 2018 to early 2019, I worked as a research assistant for Treepple Tailored Health News. Here our team would pitch, interview local health experts, record stock footage and edit short, tailored health videos. Topics I covered during my time with Treepple included cholesterol, heart disease, neurodevelopmental therapies and endocrinology.

Courtesy of my education in the Missouri School of Journalism, here is a brief insight into my PR writing style. For my knowledge and passion of AP Style, I was given the opportunity to also lecture two undergraduate courses on this style in PR writing. I've attached those slides as part of this presentation.

Teaching the truth and Debunking the myths of what causes cancer
For 10 weeks, I helped construct a project that would help members of the public better understand the myths, causes, and treatments of cancer. To help break down this sensitive and complex topic, we constructed a game that would target middle school, high school, and college-age students.
This game, which is titled "Are You Smarter Than a Scientist?", gives students a chance to learn about cancer in a fun, interactive, and educational way. Ultimately, we hope to make cancer a less daunting topic to discuss and erase some of the major myths surrounding the topic.
